What is the Computer Programming Team?
We compete in teams of 3 to 5 students and try to solve a set of algorithmic problems in a set amount of time using computer code to automatically solve the situation? Think Artificial Intelligence without the computers taking over the world.
We attend local competitions at Widener University, CodeLM and the Girls Hackathon (hosted by Lower Merion HS), the Emmaus Coding Contest, and University of Penn as well as travel to some farther contests if time and funds allow (Bloomsburg University, HACC, and University of Maryland.)
We participate annually in the American Computer Science League. This an international contest that pits some of the best science and mathematics high schools against each other 4 times a year. At the conclusion of the contest year, the best schools are invited to an Invitational All-Star Contest to compete head to head against each other in a one day winner take all contest. (We have finished 3rd twice in the past 14 years of competing.) Since COVID the contest has moved remotely online and all the top scoring students are invited to individually compete head to head on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend.
Current International Standings: Intermediate Division and Senior Division.
